Questions and answers
Getting started
Do I need to set anything up before sending?
No. ShopMail sends from our own domain, which is already set up and authenticated with the mailbox providers. Install the app, check that your logo and colours look right, and switch on the emails you want.
How does ShopMail match my store's look?
When you install, ShopMail reads your logo, colours, fonts, button shape and social links from your storefront and applies them to every email. You can change any of it on the Email design page, and every email updates together.
Which emails can I send?
Campaigns you design and send to your subscribers, and six automatic emails: abandoned checkout reminders, order thank yous, shipping updates, welcome emails, win back emails and review requests.
Does the order thank you replace Shopify's order confirmation?
No. Shopify's receipt still goes out as normal. ShopMail's thank you is a branded extra you can switch on or off.
Sending and deliverability
Who receives my marketing emails?
Only customers whose email marketing consent in Shopify is subscribed. Order and shipping emails go to the customer who placed the order, because they are about their purchase.
What address do my emails come from?
Your store's name, from an address on our sending domain made for your store. Replies go straight to your store's contact email, so customers reach you, not us.
Can I send from my own domain?
Not yet. Sending from your own domain is on the way. Until then, our shared domain is set up and monitored for you, so there is nothing to configure.
Why does a new store have a daily sending limit?
Mailbox providers trust senders that grow steadily. New stores start with a daily limit that rises every day, which protects your emails and everyone else's.
Why were my marketing emails paused?
If too many emails bounce or are reported as spam, marketing pauses automatically and the app tells you why. Order emails keep going. Email us and we will help you fix the cause.
What happens when someone unsubscribes?
They are never sent marketing from your store again, and their consent is updated in Shopify so your other apps respect it too.
Plans and billing
How am I billed?
Through Shopify, on your usual Shopify invoice. You can change or cancel your plan at any time, and uninstalling the app cancels it.
Do I pay more as my list grows?
No. The price is the same however many contacts you have, so a growing list never costs you more.
What happens if I use my monthly emails?
Marketing emails pause until the next month starts. Order and shipping emails keep going.
Privacy and data
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Shopify asks us to erase your store's data 48 hours after you uninstall, and we do. Nothing is kept.
A customer asked me to delete their data. What do I do?
Handle the request in Shopify as usual. Shopify tells us, and we delete that customer's records, emails and events.
Do you sell or share data?
Never. We do not sell data, share it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. Our privacy policy lists every service that processes it.
